This article also inspired by the movie "The squid and the whale", telling the story of a family dealing with parents’ divorce, suggests notes and reflection occasion about parents’ conflict management within the family context and, in particular, the impact on children. In this article it is taken into account the event of separation in the framework of its "evolutional function" that applies to family members and also as possible source for disfunctionalities. The "separation timing" theme is introduced with respect to the specific sons development stage and with respect to the way the parents approach their conflict; in particular this theme is developed from the point of view of "family loyalty" domain. Also it is proposed a link between the previously mentioned subjects and the "symptom" shown by sons who are the actual main characters of this affair. The article will present a conclusion dealing with the possibility, as also suggested by the movie, of a way to manage the conflict going beyond the aspects of "monstrosity" confining it to a domain that, even if as painful as it is, presents the opportunity for an evolution.
