This essay examines Humboldt’s political thought, usually misunderstood as liberalism. His abandonment of the State marks a critical reflection which question about the end of the State and not about its origin, so showing a clear anarchic dimension. The State is groundless, just a temporary evil which can be tolerated if the "community", outlined on the model of language, is built. Right in the reciprocity of speakers, as he outlined mainly in Humboldt’s study On the Dual, a way out from the opposition between universality and individuality can be found. While it is opening up the space for dialogue, language indicates a not mechanic but organic community.
