The authors - who are experts in the field of emergency psychology - coordinated, handled and took part in the interventions organized in one of the camps run in L’Aquila after the earthquake (the organization of this camp is commented in Boaretto’s article) together with other volunteer psychologists and operators. They describe the phases, distinguishing them as: 1) immediate support; 2) extended support; 3) long-term support; 4) reconstruction phase. They especially highlight the need for specific training and coordination of the volunteers.
