The clinical case presented by dr. Luci, is discussed, in this comment, following a systemic perspective. The first difficulties of the patient ("L") appear during adolescence, a life cycle phase in which previous and suffering knots can emerge. As in all family systems in L’s one too a new capacity of adaptation and separation acceptance is now required. The importance of the family story and of the relational context for the individualization process is underlined. The therapeutic change can be described as the possibility of allowing the patient to review her own story as well as the traumatic experience, to re-narrate it and to share it. It is in this context that the patient can rely on the therapist and gradually carry out the work of integration of the self.
