This review summarises some implications increased levels of labour market deregulation and flexibility has had for young men and women in Britain over the last few decades. The synthesis of empirical findings considers school-to-work transitions and type of entry-level job, perception of job security, total pay and promotion prospects, unemployment risks and chances to exit from unemployment, risk of downward occupational mobility, first partnership formation and transitions to parenthood.
