In recent years the scientific research on contraceptive methods has been concerned with the development of hormonal methods for men, thus meeting the need for a greater sharing of the risks and the responsibilities of the contraception and for a greater gender equality, as well as for the development of a family planning. Premature ejaculation (PE) affects about 30% of men of all ages causing a negative impact on life quality and couple relationship. Modern psychotherapy involves the integration of different approaches for the treatment of PE - psychodynamic, systemic, cognitive and behavioral - in the context of a short term psychotherapeutic model.
