The work aims to formulate a number of hypotheses about the factors involved in false retractions by children who have been victims of sexual abuse, through a case’s analysis. In the analysis of the action’s case file some variables emerged consistent with those highlighted in the literature. In fact, the false retraction seems to have been determined by the strong emotional bond with the abusive parent; by the unsupportive bond with the non abusive parent; and by the implementation of pressures on the child in order to retract the initial revelations. Among the hypotheses formulated about the psychodynamic mechanisms that may be involved, the dissociation of traumatic experiences and the construction of a False Self were highlighted.
