This paper describes a Stated Preferences experiment to simulate travellers’ preferences among different bus services, and between car and bus travel, by taking account of service quality factors. The experiment was designed on the basis of previous studies conducted by the authors on the same research topic. The paper proposes a rating experiment with which to investigate users’ preferences among hypothetical bus services characterized by different levels of service quality factors; in addition, the paper reports a choice experiment conducted on each user to investigate how service quality factors affect the choice between bus and private car use. The experimental data were collected by a survey carried out on a sample of passengers travelling by express bus services.
In questo lavoro viene presentato un esperimento SP che ha lo scopo di simulare le preferenze degli utenti tra differenti servizi di bus, e tra l’autovettura privata e il bus, tenendo conto dei fattori di qualità del servizio. L’esperimento è stato progettato considerando precedenti ricerche svolte dagli autori sullo stesso tema di ricerca. In particolare, si propone un esperimento SP di tipo rating secondo cui gli utenti esprimono dei giudizi su servizi ipotetici di bus caratterizzati da livelli differenti dei fattori di qualità del servizio, e un esperimento di tipo choice per verificare come i fattori di qualità del servizio influenzano le scelte degli utenti tra auto e bus. I dati sperimentali sono stati raccolti mediante una indagine condotta su un campione di passeggeri di servizi di bus extraurbani.
