The authors present the usage of the model called "The Systemic Quadrangle" as a tool useful for the connection and integration of different theoretical approaches. The example presented in the article is the supervision of a multidisciplinary team in a psychiatric Day Hospital. The structure and the meaning of the four levels that make up the tool are described first. The advantages for therapy and supervision are then further examined, especially in a context with operators with different clinical background. The model offers a guideline useful to integrate clinical observations obtained from different theoretical approaches, by laying them in a continuum that links Intra-psychic and Relational in a unified harmonic description. To do this each of the four levels that comprise the model is further developed by asking specific questions. Each operator can thus integrate his/her observations into the most appropriate level. The resulting description reflects everybody’s contribution for both clinical interpretation and intervention coordination, to the patient’s advantage.
Keywords: Systemic Quadrangle; Supervision; Team; Psychopathology; Day Hospital; Psychotherapy.
