Sociological approach to imagination hasn’t a good tradition. However contribution by French scholars has been relevant, namely from Gilbert Durand to Michel Maffesoli. English speaking authors too have to be considered, particularly Wright Mills and Merton. But sociological imagination is not movie or television fiction. And "imagists" are background figures. In terms of imagination national community is more visible and appreciated than local community.

Keywords: Imagination, imagined communities, sociological imagination, symbolic imagination, communication, serendipity
