In literature, cancer is accounted as an event that reconfigures many aspects of life (relations with your body, family, society, profession) and activates processes of revision of the meaning of life, suffering, illness and death. In this study are analyzed interviews with 14 women who received a diagnosis of breast cancer, with the purpose of describing how they represent the discovery of the illness and, above all, which social and cultural resources use in constructing the narration of their new condition. The analysis shows how the "Others" are present in the narrations, both explicitly (typified or imagined) and indirectly as part of cultural repertories, emphasizing how the "social" is not only what is realized through direct interactions with people (Duranti, 2010). For psychology, this allows to redefine of pertinence the investigation of psychological phenomena constructed outside the person in the complex interactions with the social and cultural world we inhabit.
