The author uses clinical cases as well as flashes from his own work as supervisor to recount his therapeutic experience developed working in psychiatric settings. From his first steps in the job to the present, the author describes his growth (theoretical and clinical) in the area of care for psychiatric patients. From a beginning marked with difficulty in using the clinical theory of Ruolo Terapeutico with psychiatric patients he reached a thought process and a method of treatment that allowed him to bring these clinical references even to this setting. The article, rich with theoretic references, also shows the internal dynamics of the team of the psychiatric Services and the importance of the supervisory work in that setting. He offers an interesting interweaving of psychoanalytic theory, clinical practice, supervision and personal experience
