The aim of this contribution is to inquire some variables that the specialized literature considers important elements of the interest in cosmetic surgery, such as body perception and Egoresiliency, in 210 adolescents and young women from Palermo. The data show how self perception is fundamental, being it the only variable among the investigated ones, that influences the interest in cosmetic surgery. Moreover, Ego-resiliency, that means the ability to manage own impulses and emotions flexibly and to adapt to the environmental demands effectively, is strictly linked to the self perception that, in turn, determines the interest in cosmetic surgery.
Keywords: Cosmetic surgery, body perception, self perception, Ego-resiliency.
