The short film Passing Hearts by J. Brisinger (Sve. 2012) exemplifies perfectly the development of narration as in just fifteen minutes it strikes at the heart of the viewer. In fact in the first moments it creates an expectation, outlines a development (trip) and returns all the puzzle pieces in the wonderful ending. Passing Hearts is an excinting short film that drives the viewer to take part in the process of developing the painful condition of human finitude of the protagonist. Daniel’s journey, in search of the boy’s parents who gave him a heart, becomes a metaphor for the possibility of contact between human beings, where the body, with its sortcomings and limitations, becomes the means through which contact their own and other’s individuality. The theme chosen is psychologically and philosophically significant because it affects the emergence of the Shadow which takes the form of the double, of the elaboration of mourning and of our common human frailty.
Keywords: Narrative Development; Trip; Shadow’s Shapes; Elaboration of Mourning.
