In the Italian unrest of the early Seventies, new forms of classification and assessment of work and professionalism were introduced, more variedly and disruptively applied than ever before. Closely related to such innovation there appeared an unprecedented attention to the training and cultural identity of industrial workers. The new uniform classification for workers and employees and the 150 hours allocated for the right to study, by the mid-Seventies, are benchmark cases for unitary unionism, measuring the ability to hold together classist egalitarianism and individual access to opportunities in the reconstruction of work as a social bond.
Keywords: Uniform classification between workers and clerks, 150 hours’ time, classist egalitarianism, individual opportunities, work as a social bond
