The development of language skills is of primary importance for the integration of immigrants into the host society. In fact, several EU documents cite the need for policies and projects that promote the teaching of L2. To do this, since 2006 the Lombardy Region has developed the projects "Certifica il tuo italiano" and "Vivere in Italia", reaching a large number of users. Starting from the users data of the both projects, we have construct two typologies of users by means of the Multiple Correspondence Analysis (Mca). We have analyzed the users characteristics, their motivation to attend the courses, and the ‘main aspect of integration’: economic, cultural, social (linked to socialization), structural (related to certification), generational and gender. Interviews to project operators have allowed us to understand whether attendance of the courses has helped or hindered the integration of users in the area they live in.
Keywords: Immigrants; language skills; integration pathways; users typology; Multiple Correspondence Analysis (Mca).
