In recent years there has been a rise in the incidence of adolescent binge drinking/alcohol abuse. The author examines the major psychological and psychosocial implications incurred by this increasingly widespread teen habit. In particular the paper targets the complex enormity of this social plight among the young, the associated clinical profile and details the currently available therapeutic tools. Through the bio-psychosocial approach, this work highlights the urgent need for a multidisciplinary integrated therapeutic pathway, where the psychodynamic model plays a pivotal role in the dimension of care as it addresses the subjectivity. The whole is then exemplified in the clinical case described.
