This paper investigates the possibility for a hermeneutic phenomenology of science by criticizing Heidegger’s existential conception of science and Gadamer’s expulsion of the natural sciences from the hermeneutic universe. At stake is the specificity of science’s theoretical objects qua objects, whose reading and integration in spaces of representation launches the articulation (in the sense of hermeneutic phenomenology) of domains of scientific research. The paper addresses the post-metaphysical role of those hermeneutic programs which look at scientific research in terms of "situated transcendence".
Keywords: Characteristic hermeneutic situation, constitution of meaning, situated transcendence, theoretical objects.
