This paper focuses on some aspects related to the intersection between fields of great interest for both epistemologists and historians of life sciences. As shown in literacy, evolutionary developmental biology and systems ecology are now connected one to another in a fruitful relationship. This occurs in conjunction with the strong Neo-Darwinist version’s weakening and the consequent rising of epigenetics, that has been inspired by Lamarckism. The authors inquiry two essential aspects in Neo-Lamarckism: the first one focuses on the Evo-Devo Theory and on the concept of internal selection, the other one refers to systems ecology and to the expansion of the concept of environment.
Keywords: Boundaries, ecology, development, evo-devo, evolution, systems.
