Most of the scholarship devoted to the study of collaboration in Veneto fails to examine the role of women. This article aims at partially filling this gap. By examining the sentences of the purge trials together with the articles published in newspapers, what emerges is a varied universe of women collaborators, who were not just passive subjects or enemy lovers, as they have often been described. The essay highlights the extent to which gender stereotypes influenced the judiciary and public opinion in Veneto during the trials against women who were accused of being collaborators.
