A recent book by Howard Brick and Christopher Phelps which retraces the troubled history of American radicalism over the past fifty years. Even though sometimes excessive in exalting a radical visionary premonition of previously unthinkable social alterations, the outcome of Radicals in America is not only a comprehensive account of these multifaceted left-wing tendencies but also an up-to-date historiographical attempt to explore the global circulation of radical cultures and ideas, and to push the boundaries of the history of American radicalism from a Transatlantic perspective.
Keywords: U.S. left, Political radicalism, Transatlantic history, American exceptionalism
