Starting with an overview of the research data, the Author draws the features of a male parenting that has to face both a radical questioning of paternal role (traditionally considered to be dependent from the maternal one as far as children care is concerned), and a prejudice of a male inability to offer tenderness and physical care to children. All of this, associated to the social expectation towards gay and lesbian parenting, implicates both more parental stress (whose peculiarities we will consider), and more attention and investment on their own parental role.
Keywords: Gay fathers, research data, parental functions, surrogacy, family dynamics, prejudice.
