The analysis of some key moments in the relationship between natural history and history of philosophy seems to suggest that, during the early twentieth century, the life sciences have not made a "revolution" similar to the one that invested instead Physics generating the original suggestions by Bohr and Heisenberg on the objectivity of the phenomena and their possible determination. However, in more recent times, the reconsideration of the concepts of time and multiverse structure of the biological systems has opened up new scenarios. Theoretical and philosophical uses of these variables can help biology to emancipate itself from the deterministic view by which it has been often affected.
Keywords: Complementarity, Evolutionism, Nature, Philosophy, Reductionism, Time.
