The "pot" experience was introduced in the systemic context by Virginia Satir in 1972 in his book entitled "Peoplemaking". This technique is proposed as a symbolic container in which a person put his own personal story, focusing attention on so-called "full" moments that can be traced back to a sense of inner completeness, individual and relational well-being, and moments of emptiness that point to a life experience of discomfort. This experience is usually used in the training and in the clinical field, specifically to date in individual psychotherapeutic pathways. In the present discussion, the authors will illustrate two clinical cases where, in an innovative way, they applied "the pot" to the couple therapy. The use of this relational technique in this field required changes to the standard protocol with particular reference to the target, timing and mode of administration.
Keywords: Pot, couple, emotions, change, metaphor.
