The diversification of activities and products together with the ability to establish a new relationship with "qualified" segments of food demand represent one of the main strengths of the Sardinian agricultural sector, which only recently is emerging from a long structural and market crisis. The European policies supported Sardinia in spreading and consolidating forms of agricultural conversion over the last few decades that have opened up new prospects for rural development focused on a new relationship between agricultural production and local consumption. This article is based on a research of the changes of agriculture in Sardinia, whose aim is to investigate the ability of small farms to innovate, the working and organizational paths that involve foreigners, and the relationship with the local territorial context.
