The paper explores how current provisions in agricultural law sectors deal with the pressing challenge of climate change. In 2015, the UN adopted the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, including Sustainable Development Goal # 2 on the promotion of sustainable agriculture. In the EU, «Europe 2020» strategy and the EU Communication titled «The Cap towards 2020» aim at building «more sustainable, smarter and more inclusive growth for rural Europe». Agriculture is re-sponsible for almost 20% of Ghg emissions and it should thus contribute to climate change mitigation and climate resilience. Nevertheless, it remains to be clarified what kind of agriculture we refer to? Is there a common and univocal notion of sustainable agriculture? What are green practices able to reduce global C02 emis-sions? Are sustainable agriculture and "precision agriculture" connected? Sustain-able agriculture seems to be the only way to wisely manage natural resources like water, biodiversity and ecosystem services. In the author’s view the role of agricul-tural law is to provide an answer to the above-mentioned questions.
