Towards an Italian public history This article examines a series of texts recently published in Italy on the topic of public history and advances some interpretations. It focuses in particular on the debates about the public use of history and historical communication. It then analyzes certain practices of public history, such as those related to oral history, heritage, and storytelling. It also discusses the issue of the definition of public history and the prospects of this discipline in the Italian context.
