The paper analyzes terrorism and migration, understood through the lenses of "the stranger", and "the enemy" as sources of insecurity. Under this respect, communication plays a fundamental role in building the public image of terrorists and migrants, together with the dimension of risk. We see a "viral auto-generation of insecurity", which menaces social systems. Following such approach, the paper claims that there is noting more dangerous and populistic than communicating fear. In conclusion, the paper argues that only a re-definition of the connections abilities of social identity - in terms of resilience - can limits the devastating effects of ruling communicative populisms.
