As part of the degree course in Primary Teacher Education, the Laboratory is not only a "methodological workshop", but also a privileged educational space where disciplinary knowledge and pedagogical and didactic skills can be interconnected. Starting from this assumption, the paper presents a learning experience carried out for 4th-year students in the context of a history teaching laboratory. Methodologically, through the promotion of the embodiment cognition and the development of "open-air" learning experience, the history immersion and the study of the original sources are proved to be an occasion for a new relationship between the present and the past.
