Considering the social complexity that we have to deal with every day, the author has decided to investigate new possible food scenarios. Attention is placed towards a new form of eating behavior disorder, social orthorexia, which also in the medical field, is arousing an increasing-ly marked interest. The article aims to highlight, through qualitative techniques, the specificities of the socio-orthorhexical person and to understand what entails, at a relational and working level, to follow a food path of this type. The methodological design is qualitative: 22 histories of illness and a conclusive world coffee have been carried out in order to deepen and discuss with the same number of orthorexic people the evidences emerged from the interviews. The social actor is confronted with a reality dictated by a gastro-anomic context in which well-being is sought after with such diligence that often results in behaviors that have little, or noth-ing, to say goodbye. From the study there is a widespread difficulty in supporting demanding work patterns, distinguishing the phases that characterize the termination of the eating disor-der.
Keywords: Social orthorexia; relationships; work; histories of illness; world coffee; diet.
