The aim of the paper is to discuss, using a literature review, the need to apply a gender-sensitive approach to the analysis of the challenges presented by Covid-19. The pandemic is affecting men and women differently and may amplify existing gender inequalities. The need to address its gendered impact is thus strong. The pa-per discusses some specific aspects of Covid-19 outbreak: health, care, work, so-cial relationships, gender-based violence. The paper also reflects upon the crucial role played by women in the Covid-19 response, in both the private and public spheres, and on the need to include women’ voices and women’s organizations at the heart of the Covid-19 global response.
Keywords: Women; gender; gender-sensitive approach; gender inequalities; Covid-19.
