The growth of the finance economy and banking institutions in Europe was accompanied from the 15th to the 17th century by an increase in the exclusionary nature of citizenship. This economic and political phenomenon was characterized by a plethora of theoretical writings aimed at justifying violence and war against those considered foreign to European society, which was represented as a collective rational subject unified by specific economic, political and religious norms.
