The article analyses, from an anthropological perspective, the role of money in some mobilisations and economic experiments in the field of food activism. In particular, through the case of basket systems (asso-ciations for the supply of vegetables and fresh food) in the city of Marseille, the author examines the reasons for the apparent invisibility of money and shows how, by rethinking calculation, exchange and production, individuals redefine the social and economic values of food and with them the spaces of production and distribution. Through solidarity, social exchange and fair pricing, money acquires a political as well as an economic role.
