In the contemporary "reception crisis", reinforced by the pandemic emergency, the border is defined as a key element in analysing mobility towards and within Eu-rope. In the widespread cases of migrant’ blockades - stuck in transit on European borders -support networks become an important reality on multiple border cross-ing points, to provide hospitality, care, basic necessities, facilitating the continuation of migrant routes. The word "solidarity" becomes, in this sense, a reference notion both in emic terms in the daily life of borderlands, and in relation to an emerging scientific literature that, within migration studies, we call solidarity studies. The article proposes an analysis of the state of the art of this strand of studies, simultaneously introducing and situating at the same time the contributions presented in the monograph, which in turn aims to participate in the incipient articula-tion of these new research perspectives.

Keywords: solidarity; migrations; borders; hybridization; criminalization; solidarity studies.
