This contribution aims to highlight the didactic role of the Theater Workshop within the training plan of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome through the narration of its first ten years of life (2011-2021). The didactic specificity of the Theater Workshop will be analyzed as an active, emotional and expressive training aimed at students, capable of promoting health, well-being and encouraging virtuous processes of humanization of care. Through the testimonies of students, alumni and teachers who have participated in some particularly significant productions, it is clear how theatrical practices have been able to effectively influence the students’ humanistic attitudes and how this experience has created social cohesion and group identity, on university life and on community of the University Hospital. In particular, the theater workshop was able to: positively influence the social determinants of health, encourage health promoting behaviors, develop empathy and provide a broader view of health and clinical care.
Keywords: theater workshop; Medical Humanities; university theatre; medical training.
