An examination of the political-diplomatic relations between Italy, France, and Germany, in the fi rst half of the 1930s, highlights that the agreement with France, in the international framework that preceded the aggression against Ethiopia, also based on common anti-Germanic demands, represented for Italy a real and viable alternative, regardless of the ideological diff erences between the two countries.
