In the decade between 1930 and 1940, together with the interventions for the transformation of the ‘eternal city’ in the Greater Rome, the Institute for Public Housing built suburbs known as ‘Roman fascist borgate’. Of the twelve built on the outskirts of an expanding city, the one here presented is a reflection on its roots in the territory is the Borgata Tufello. It became part of an urban and social system in which to reread the legacy of the Modern, as proficient of further future developments. It is located in the North East quadrant of Rome, in a green suburb at the boundaries of the countryside. The essay, in addition to taking into consideration the inherited problems, evaluates the potentials, the transformations taking place once and nowadays and the challenge on a kind of historical-cultural continuity through this minor modern architecture.
