Winnicott opened up areas of reflection that shed light on the care of the newborn, starting from sensoriality and the primary physical needs, with the aim of protecting his fragilility, de-fencelessness and unintegration. Hands and voices help the child perceive the confines of him-self, differentiate himself from his surroundings, feel himself contained within himself, and mirror himself in the eyes of the one caring for him. All elements that go to promote the meet-ing between "psyche and the soma", and sustain the illusion which allows the infant to turn his gaze on the world and give voice to his real feeling. The author, prompted by notes of sensitiv-ity in Winnicott who felt what he saw and saw what he felt, detects behind the voice of the analyst in his theoretical writings hints of the perturbation and painful unease of the man.
Keywords: un-integration, sensoriality, environment, psycho-soma, true Self-false Self, transi-tional object, mirroring function.
