Economic growth and sustainability: An inseparable combination to protect future generations

The author intends to provide some food for thought on a topic such as sustainability and the social, environmental and economic implications deriving from it. The term, developed relative-ly recently, has a crucial importance, which affects different areas of our existence. Often ref-erence is made exclusively to the environmental sphere but in reality the concept is much broader and also takes into account the social and economic condition. The work focuses on the main normative interventions at international and national level and on the duty of pre-sent generations to monitor so that the needs and interests of future generations are fully safe-guarded, ensuring the maintenance and perpetuation of humanity with respect for the dignity of the human person. It concludes by highlighting how sustainability in tourism can be under-stood as an opportunity for economic growth. This way of thinking about tourism, highlight-ing the existing link in a sustainable perspective, takes on different nuances depending on the context (environmental, economic, social). The growing awareness of sustainable development has, in fact, led to a new way of conceiving tourism.
