In the following article, we mainly aim to recall one of the Galileo Galilei’s most brilliant works, Il Saggiatore, since this year marks the centenary of its composition. It is a fact that Galilei played a key role in the scientific revolution, having, among other things, pioneered the experimental method that paved the way for a fruitful progress in science as an ever evolving process. Secondly, we want to mention those who, in a similar way to the Galileo’s troubled journey, pioneered the development of Pedagogy as experimental knowledge. Just as Galileo intended to fight against any appeal to authority, whatever it might be, other than "reason" and "sensible experience", so did Pedagogy when it decided to discard the ipse dixit, and thus began, albeit hesitantly, to use the experimentation to get to know its subject with a scien- tific approach.
Keywords: Il Saggiatore, Galilei, scientific revolution, experimental knowl- edge, pioneers.
