This paper proposes a scoping review of the environmental impacts of food consumption and production in Italy. Specifically, it focuses on three characteristic agro-food productions: wine, olive oil and red meat. The reporting of this review follows the PRISMA statement. The results highlight the importance of quantifying the environmental impacts of food production and consumption with appropriate indicators of environmental accounting. Nevertheless, the research also points out to the limited variety of indicators used and to their poor connection with the territorial dimension, which is useful for critically interpreting the environmental impacts of the supply chains analysed, also outside the national context.
