the contribution means to investigate the background and the necessities of family units with a story of forced migration, who have different compositions and char-acteristics, hosted in two projects in L’Aquila, Abruzzo, and as well as some of the peculiarities of the work done to include them. Through the testimonies of six fam-ilies, three accepted in the SAI project of L’Aquila and three in an Extraordinary Reception Centre, we analyse the material, educational and training, social and cultural needs of the families with the time spent in the actions undertaken to sup-port the autonomy and independence of the individuals and of the family units, steps of a path aimed at realizing their social and cultural inclusion. In conclusion, will be highlighted some practices and resources that the acceptance projects adopt in the daily work.
Keywords: family units; forced migrations; welcoming projects; needs and expec-tations; social inclusion.
