The text looks at Marco Bellocchio’s film “Rapito” by highlighting its major components — words, bodies, dreams — and tracing its recurrences throughout the director’s body of work. Thus, the contours of a complex film that revisits and reworks the constant theme of Bellocchio’s corpus are outlined: the contrast between the freedom of the individual and the oppressive presence of authority, whether political, religious, or familial.
Keywords: Marco Bellocchio, italian cinema, film analysis, history and film, Rapito
