The traditional forms of employment in the Italian NHS are increasingly complemented with new contractual arrangements better suited to cope with the current shortage of professionals and diminishing attractiveness of NHS jobs.The case of the local health authority of VCO provides food for thought to highlight managerial and institutional implications.
