Contemporary society, which is inspired by the false myths of the Persona, requires the recovery of a more constant dialogue between the Ego and the Unconscious, which Jung placed as the foundation and content of therapy. But for the hybridization between these two fundamental psychic realities to succeed, it is necessary to keep in mind that the Unconscious has a linguistic status different from the conscious. Starting from this fact, this essay points out the points of contact between unconscious language and musical language and the contributions that the analysis of musical expression can make to the understanding of unconscious phenomena. In particular, the inevitable indeterminacy of unconscious manifestations is emphasized and the opportunity to approach them in an imaginative rather than merely interpretative way.
