Italy, called to face to the environmental challenges, has developed the Urban and Periurban Forestation Plan (UPFP) within the considerable spending programme of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), as urban and periurban forests are considered the most effective tools against climate change. The UPFP can count on the greater resources reserved for the Mission 2 Green Revolution and Ecological Transition which directly derives from the European Green Deal and constitutes, surely, a major effort and spending commitment. However, the structure that holds together public policies, national plans and municipal planning tools is weak to be able to resolve itself into quality urban forestation projects. The contribution aims to investigate how these resources can have a real impact on the territory, analyzing the existing multi-scale planning tools in the specific case of Puglia region.
