In the context of a renovation aimed at enhancing the dining experience in a restaurant in Abano Terme, a thorough study of internal acoustics was conducted. This article explores the process of optimizing reverberation time, a crucial parameter for sound environment quality. By employing a scientific approach that includes preliminary measurements, the design and implementation of acoustic interventions, and post-intervention measurements, issues related to excessive reverberation were identified and addressed. The pre-intervention analysis revealed that reverberation time exceeded optimal levels, resulting in an unfavorable acoustic experience. Interventions such as the installation of sound-absorbing materials and spatial reorganization significantly reduced reverberation time, improving both comfort and communication within the restaurant. The post-intervention results confirmed a notably more pleasant acoustic environment, with clear benefits for the patrons’ dining experience. This study highlights the importance of acoustics in the design and renovation of public spaces, emphasizing its impact on the overall quality of service.
