Camps (either for detention/identification and protection/shelter) appear to be the main device to govern the movement of "displaced" people - By outlining the proliferation of "confinement" centers investing the global surface, the article explores the continuity between apparently opposite manifestations of camps: it considers their global diffusion as a symptom of the broader process of deterritorialization of contemporary borders; and it envisages their specific productivity in the ratification of a permanent "internable" and deportable condition. As articulations of a specific "apparatus of capture", rather than of radical exclusion camps thus produce forms of differential inclusion within a fragmented yet unified geography.
Keywords: Detention and identification centres; migrants; asylum seekers; refugees; borders policies.
