The appeal signed in January 2023 by 91 directors of Community Mental Health Centers ad-dressed to the highest political authorities of Italy is discussed. It begins with an analysis of the critical situation in which public psychiatric care finds itself, especially after the COVID-19 pan-demic and in the presence of a problematic social and economic situation. The validity of the bi-opsychosocial paradigm in community mental health is affirmed. The link between mental health and justice is addressed, and the need for a discussion table among all the actors involved is sug-gested.
