La maestria con la quale Bramante controlla il progetto di uno spazio concepito senza soluzione di continuità mostra come l’architettura possa sfruttare le potenzialità rappresentative delle prospettive interne. Lo studio pubblicato in questo volume documenta, attraverso un numero ridotto di casi campione selezionati, la insospettata attualità sviluppata in ambito lombardo nell’applicazione della decorazione prospettica all’architettura, intesa in senso lato come arte di costruzione dello spazio artificiale.

This book investigates the role of interior design in the enhancement of the effectiveness of Non-Pharmacological therapies for Alzheimer’s disease care.  The author presents the conceptual model for an environmental system called “Therapeutic Habitat”, meant as a system of environmental interventions, based on tangible and intangible aspects, products and furniture, objects and services. Its aim is to enhance the well-being of people with dementia and stimulate recognition and interaction with the surrounding environment.

The book aims to investigate the up-cycling of domestic effluents for plant production, bringing together a series of considerations by an interdisciplinary group of researchers from the Politecnico di Milano, Università Statale di Milano and Università di Roma Tor Vergata, ranging from biology to design through sociology and architectural composition. Integrating vegetable cultivation in the domestic environment with reusing kitchen wastewater for irrigation is a promising strategy for reducing freshwater consumption and raising environmental awareness among citizens.

For many decades, Thailand has been described as a “gay paradise” by various travel magazines. However, local LGBTQ people are still facing discrimination in many aspects of their life and many rights are denied to people of various sexual orientations and identities. Tourism brings stronger connections between countries, increasing exchanges of ideas and customs among different populations, such as ideas and values relating to sexual identities. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out what are the impacts of LGBTQ tourism on the Thai LGBTQ community and on Thai legislation regarding people of various sexual orientations.

The environmental emergency of the last century has led to an urgent need to reformulate the predominant role of human beings on the planet by undertaking a less anthropocentric design approach. Within this theoretical framework, the book explores the role of Design as a multifaceted discipline capable of exploring the complexity of a changing world, and reconsiders the human being’s position in a pervasive relationship with the contemporary environments through a More-than-Human approach.

Extended store has been a work of mapping the phenomena of digitalization that effects spaces and above all the world of retail. Shops will not disappear in the 21st century, but they will have to change (if they have not already done so) to survive. They will have to evolve by integrating technological solutions that are not only back-end (as they have done so far), but front-end, and therefore available to customers in the shop as in the cases reported in the book.

Per effetto della pandemia COVID 19, da qualche mese la didattica a distanza (DAD) è velocemente passata dallo status di remota curiosità tecnologica alla quotidiana modalità in cui portiamo avanti il nostro lavoro di docenti/progettisti. Per la didattica del design ciò ha significato ricalibrare le esperienze attorno a cui le strategie di insegnamento si sono a lungo appoggiate. In questo volume si riflette sull’insegnabilità del design e su quali abilità sia più importante trasmettere ai nostri studenti.

Il movimento nel paesaggio contribuisce a creare il paesaggio stesso. Le pratiche di mobilità sono infatti parte di un continuo processo di co-costruzione del paesaggio, che implica non solo la trasformazione delle forme del territorio ma anche aspetti soggettivi, esperienziali, collettivi e politici. Il volume esplora queste dinamiche, adottando la prospettiva del quotidiano e con particolare attenzione alla pratica del cammino in gruppo. L’autrice propone un dialogo tra le scienze del paesaggio e le geografie delle mobilità, introducendo il concetto di “paesaggi in movimento”, come sintesi di alcune delle principali correnti presenti in letteratura, dall’approccio more-than-representational al mobility turn. Il volume propone quindi alcune considerazioni sui paesaggi del quotidiano, sulla dimensione politica del cammino in gruppo e sulla relazione tra paesaggio, mobilità e benessere.
